  Many people believed that segregation was the best way to be able to create a civil environment. A main reason for this was that people had very strong opinions on different racial stereotypes. People believed that certain races were inferior to others. They thought segregation was a way to maintain what they thought of to be called a “white way of life”.  A big reasoning for pro segregation has been the “states rights” argument.       This has often been used by people who agree with slavery in the south especially during the 1950s, and the 1960s.It has been argued that the 10th amendment to the US constitution shows that it allows different states to make their own decisions about segregation.  The founding fathers of Louisiana originally thought to have the right of making their own laws specifically segregation.
